Pick up rehearsal

We will have a pick up rehearsal this coming Tuesday for our Wednesday night closing performance.  We will work with tracks (orchestras are expensive) but have the orchestra back on Wednesday.  The plan will be to treat it like a final dress:  call at 4:00 and shoot for a 5:00 start.  We will use all costumes that are needed for quick changes, but if you are not worried about changes you don't need to use your costume. Due to it being a school night, we're going to shoot for a closing night party on Friday (time TBD) so that people can head out after the show on Wednesday.   I'll talk more about this to the cast today during magic time, but please reach out if you have questions. 4/30 Show Update!

Hi everyone! Here are a couple updates for today's show and the postponed show next week. Firstly, Allison will be returning to her role as Maria today! Erin will be able to join us in the building as well but will not be performing today. We're excited to have them back though in any capacity! Also, the postponed show has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th. This way, if any issues arise in the next week, it can be moved to Friday if necessary.  Thanks!

Show Availability Form!

Hi everyone, Please fill out the form linked HERE as soon as possible so we know what date works best for rescheduling the postponed show. Thanks!

Update 1 4/28

In no particular order, here are some updates for you: We have heard back from some orchestra members who are not comfortable being in the building at this time.  We will move forward with the performance tracks we used for dress rehearsals. The current plan is to maintain our performance schedule of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and to add next Friday in as a make up performance for Thursday.  Each cast originally scheduled to perform that night will keep that night--of course accounting for those who are understudying.  For all of those roles double-cast, please be in regular contact with your counterpart about your ability to perform.  Some of the below information is from an email I went a parent earlier.  I thought it might be helpful for you all to hear: "To be clear, it was with an abundance of caution that I postponed last night's show.  Many felt it would be ok to move forward, but my gut said to wait a night.  Currently 5 cast member...

Tonight's show is postponed

Hello all.  For a wide variety of reasons, we are postponing tonight's performance.  I'll be having a company meeting at 4:00 today for any/all who can attend and will explain things in more detail.  Currently we are still planning on performiung Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will be recommending that all audience members wear a mask.  Any students who feel more comfortable wearing a mask during the show are encouraged to do so. We are looking at next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday for the postponed performance.  Will you please email me at jpeerenb@pps.net if you cannot perform any of those nights next week?  Thanks and I'll keep you posted. The Show Goes On!

This post is in response to some opinions floating around that the show was cancelled. It is not! I look forward to seeing you all tonight!  - J

Update to the Update!

Hi folks, We have now received multiple notifications about positive tests within our cast. We once again strongly urge you to take rapid tests if available to you. Please reach out to both myself or Jim if you test positive or have any concerns about being around others.  Thank you!

Hi folks, We have just been informed that someone in our cast has tested positive for Covid. They will retest later but we wanted to let everyone know now so if possible you can get a rapid test. We will check in about this tomorrow. Thank you!

Company Meeting Notes

For those who were not able to attend the company meeting today, I want to let you know that I announced that I'm stepping down as the theatre director at Lincoln at the end of this year.  Next year, I'll be teaching leadership half-time and taking a half-time leave to work on my mental and physical health.  It was a hard decision to come to, but a necessary one. As I said at the meeting, I like to be on top of my own narrative and while I had only told a few colleagues, I heard word might be getting out so I wanted to get ahead of that.  I was open to any questions during the meeting and extent that here-- if you have questions about any of this feel free to ask me, otherwise know that you will all be in my heart for all time! Jim P

Congratulations on your first week!

What a joy it has been to see you all sharing your talents with our community.  As we have a show on Wednesday, I don't feel we will need a pick up rehearsal.  However, I'd like to have a brief company  meeting Monday at 3:45 in the auditorium.  This will be fairly brief, and will give us a chance to remind ourselves of some important details without running the show.  Non-Lincoln students:  I will post on the blog any necessary information for you so that you don't have to try to hurry here, only to potentially have the meeting end before you arrive. If you have already made plans for Monday afternoon, please check the blog for any necessary information and/or email me (jpeerenb@pps.net).  Thank you all and I hope you enjoy you well-earned rest. Jim P

Congrats/Happy Opening Night/Drama Reunion

Congrats on your first opening night!  Tonight we get whole other opening night!! Hopefully everyone checked their costumes before the left last night.  I know how it is when you're that tired, but a reminder that it's really important that you leave the theatre knowing all of your costumes are accounted for. Tomorrow is the first-ever LHS Drama Reunion, inspired by this being the last year in this building.  Here's some information I shared on social meadia: We opened last night and I've had a second to catch my breath. Regarding tomorrow's reunion, here's some info if you have not heard it yet: Noon: Alumni will be providing musical entertainment in the foyer. 1:00 First show-- a sing-a-long matinee. 4:00 Tour-- alumni can tour the backstage for the last time and will be given the opportunity to tag their name one last time back stage. Due to scheduling problems, we will not be able to get into the new building. 4:30 Dinner with the cast-- a lasagna dinner...

Lost Coats!

We found some coats in the auditorium that may belong to actors. If you are missing a coat please check the counseling office or the lost and found. Thx!

New Sign Out Rules for Von Trapp Kids!

As we get into the run of the show, we will no longer be requiring the Von Trapp kids to sign out with Jeremy at the end of the show. If we have concerns about any of the kids then we will make those phone calls to check in, but signing out will not be a necessity any more.
Congratulations, Red Cast!!!! I really enjoyed your performances last night.   Nunny Bunnies!!!  LISTEN TO EACH OTHER so you stay together.  Otherwise, you're golden when you sing boldly! Love, Chrisse
Dear Red and White Casts of Sound of Music! I'm so excited to see you all perform.  I am very impressed with how hard you all worked on this show and how far you've come.  We've had challenging circumstances and you've overcome them splendidly.  I'm very proud of the work you've done!  Thanks, Mr. P, for asking me to work with you and your students on this production! I'll be in the audience on Opening Night to see Red and on Closing Night to see White.  Have a splendid run and HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!! Your pal, Chrisse

Additional costume notes:

We're still unclear who is sharing costumes.  How do you have this worked out?  How can we be clear with this?  Please come in at 4:30 so that MaryChris and Flavia can go over this with you all.  This will also include you putting some of them on to check that they fit you correctly.  If both casts can do this, that would be good.

Final Dress notes:

The Sound of Music notes:  4/’20/22 Act 1 KIDS:  if you still need white tights, email MaryChris at xmass@comcast.net and let her know what size by 9:00 am. Thursday. Mr. Kays: “The Sound of Music” seemed slower tonight. Let’s check in with Maria on how she felt about the tempo. Mr. Kays:  I did not hear your two-measure intro for “Maria” so I’m guessing the nuns did not either. Nuns:   I was having a hard time hearing some of your singing which seemed to lead to problems with the orchestra.  Let me know if we need to run anything by the orchestra/Mr. Kays. Maria:   when you were begging the Mother Abbess, it looked as if you did nog do the sign of the cross completely. Please make sure it is accurate. Maria:  start to open the guitar case sooner so that you have plenty of time. Kids:   make sure you show how happy you are becoming as Maria is singing to you and you respond back. Mr. Kays:  Can you vamp the transition into Goatherd a...

Company Meeting Today at 4!

Hi everyone, Before dinner today, we're going to have a company meeting. Please try to be there on time or as soon as you can possibly get there.  Thank you!

Announcement For Those Who Wear Mics!

Hi folks, If you wear a mic in the show, your call time is now 5:00 on show nights! Thanks!
T uesday notes from Chrisse READ THESE NOTES Many of them are repeats. MOTHER ABBESS Please read yesterday's notes regarding the blessings and put them into action. MOTHER ABBESS (all nuns) your head piece needs to be tucked into the collar.  Nuns: you need to stay in the lobby until Maria exits at the end of her wedding dressing scene and then come into the aisles and pretty much start Gaudeamus almost right away as soon as the lights come on. You will have to time out how soon before that you can listen to your pitches.  Two of you are supposed to have cell phones to play the pitched so you should be able to play them in two places in front of each of the lobby doors that you are entering. You shouldn't have to clump together in the middle and listen. Someone needs to be a lookout at one door to see when Maria exits after dressing and then you enter immediately. Nuns: black tights? No bare leg showing..   FLAT SHOES if you can. NAMED NUNS: please review your ...

Tuesday notes

4/19 The Sound of Music Notes Act 1   Nuns: all should have flat black shoes Maria:   don’t enter while the nuns are on stage. Mr. Kays:   the cue right after Maria sings The Sound of Music was the cue I was telling you about that only need to be about 10 seconds Names nuns:   listen carefully to the music if you get off track.  Ordinarily Mr. Kays will be able to get the orchestra to the right place but it might be like tonight where he’s “flying blind”. Named nuns:   watch your spacing.  You should be evenly spaced. Crew: can we streamline setting up Maria’s screen and suitcase? Freiderick:   You’ll need to gel/style your hair.  Let me know if you have any questions. Freiderick and Kurt:   You’ll need all-black shoes.  Do you have some?  If not, we can look in the costume room. Gretl:   when Maria speaks to you, look her in the face. Kids:   good job on the choreography Crew:   what is hanging over down...
