Wednesday notes

4/13 The Sound of Music Notes

Act 1

Nuns:  good with the two x two walking.

All:  no more calling for lines.  You have to find your way out of it.

Captain:  a little faster with the inspection of the kids

Captain:  need a better whistle for Maria

The guitar looks too new.  What happened to the other one from Mr. Kays?

Kids:  keep up the energy/bouncing during DRM before you march.

Kids:  all stomp on “So Do”.

Kids:  great job on your boxes

Leisl:  stay more open on your verse versus singing it to Rolf.

Leisl:  after  your “weeeee” you can run off stage.

The dresser in Maria’s room has to be in front of the curtains.

Reminder:  be prepared to hold for laughs/applause.

Kids:  make sure  you know your cues for entering Maria’s bedroom, not just the thunder and lightening.

Maria:  make sure you do the full sign of the cross on God Bless Kurt.

Kids:  great job being in the right spots.  Keep working on making it look natural and not that you were told to be there at that point.

Props: Gretl needs a candle/lantern for the cross over.

Franz/props:  have the teapot on the table at the start of the scene.  Franz can come down to pour the tea and then the Capt. can take it from him to give to Max.

Props:  we need something that looks more like Eidelweiss.

Props:  we need mini muffins.

Kids:  in the scene before the ball help each other adjust their clothes and interact with each other.

Let’s work on thescene tomorrow before the show to fix the blocking.

Where are Henry, Fera, and Ashley?

Waltz dancers:  I need a reminder of whom you are partnered with.  I believe it is Henry/Fera, Ash/Zia, Meyer/Sofia, Jackson/” S. Margareta” ,  Theirno/Robin, “Friedrich”/”S. Berte”

We need to clean up the transition from the waltz to Zeller and the Baron’s fight.  This includes Sofia’s line as Frau Zeller.

Sound:  several of the mics don’t seem to be working.  What is the challenge?

Brigitta:  be more matter of fact when you talk with Maria being in love with your dad.

Leisl good job getting them back on track for So long

Nuns:  the singing right after the party was off.  What can we do about this?  Circle up in the shop right before hand to get on pitch?

S. Sofia and postulant:  once you start your entrance you have to keep doing it.  You can’t wait on the side once you've been seen.

We need to pick up the scene when Maria enters to talk with the MA.  The silent moments are pulling down the tempo.

Act 2

Kids:  as you wander, depressed about Maria, what’s going on in your head?  What is your character thinking? Right now you look like tired elementary school kids.

All:  pick up your cues

Maria:  don’t throw away the “who told you”’”Brigetta” line.  Keep the “seriousness” of when you say her name.

Maria:  tell your hair not to eat the Captain’s mic.

Nuns:  Chrisse would like to work with you at the start of rehearsal tomorrow.

ALL:  there should be no more absences from rehearsals unless it was already cleared.  If you have a cleared absence please remind your counterpart of when you’ll need them to cover for you.

MA:  make sure you do the sign of the cross correctly before talking to Maria pre-wedding.

Props:  we need a nightie for the suitcase.

Nuns:  starting Friday you’ll need to practice waiting in the foyer and quickly entering for the beginning of “Gaudeamus”

Nuns:  watch for your cue to start singing.  The start was a little rough.
