Thursday notes
The Sound of Music notes: Thursday 4/14
Act 1
Maria: good job listening to the track and adjusting.
Maria: be walking out the door as you sing the last part of the note for “I Have Confidence”
Franz: can you project more?
Leisl and Rolf: try to avoid getting to your space before the first dance break and look like you’re waiting to dance. Fill that moment.
Gretl: Are you confused on when to enter Maria’s room? If so, can the other children help her?
Kids: good job with your energy.
Where is Ursula? She missed her moment.
The scene prior to the children leap frogging out felt off/cues slow.
Kids: you got ahead of the track on The Sound of Music. Keep listening carefully to each other. This needs some work.
Captain: Don’t break character if things go awry.
Maria: give the Captain a little more space as he sings The Sound of Music— give him this moment.
Kids: we need to figure out a way to stretch out your scene a little more to fill the music prior to the waltz.
Henry needs a dance partner. Who in the cast knows the waltz and can be his partner?
Elberfeld and Zeller: you should look like you’re fighting prior to your lines.
Captain/Elsa/Brigitta/Max/Maria: this seems like the first time there was that awkward pause before Maria came out. What was different?
Elsa: your line for the kids to come out was later than usual.
Kids: you were off from the track again, and things became awkward. If the lights do weird things, just keep going like normal.
ALL: in general things are looking a little sloppy (late cues, off entrances etc). Stay focused.
Nuns: your first notes were off. How can we fix that?
Act 2
Mr. Kays: the sound coming out of the speakers was not good. Is it the monitors? It would pop a bit and in general was problematic.
ALL: reminder to be prepared to hold for laughs and applause.
Kids: good job going on when the music went out.
ME: bring hats for men and women (neutrals)
ALL: get in the habit of not breaking character for any reason.
Everyone please watch the video for sign of the cross. It's still not being done correctly a lot of the time:
ReplyDeleteforehead, heart, left shoulder, right shoulder, ending with Prayer Hands to signify "Amen". Please review and make a correction if this applies to you. Thanks.
