Notes from 3/31's Run Through!
NOTES ON THE WHITE CAST RT
NUNS: valiant effort for being so few in number!
ALL NUNS: beware ‘scooping’ on entrances!!! Be sure to hear the starting note in your
head FIRST so you start singing exactly on it.
Maria: My day in the hills has come to AN end (not ‘come to n-end’)
#5 - this is transition music - cue: Mother A I’m grateful to you all - There are 8 bars of
music. Take enough time so that MA says “Come here my child” over bar 5-6. Then let
the last 2 bars play out before continuing.
MOTHER ABBESS: Maria Theresa - the second “e” in Theresa is pronounced as long A
- as in ‘hay’.....
MARIA: Your name is Maria Rainer, pronounced “RYE-ner” as in rye bread
#7 - for Jim to decide. Typically, if subbing in the Alt #7, the other #7 is omitted. Seems
like you have been doing both. Let’s talk about this to see if we want to keep both or
omit the traditional #7 (2nd half of Fav. Things) or end #6 with Mother A and Maria
and go directly to Alt #7
Maria: DoReMi @ m. 132 - there is a rest at the beginning of that measure.
ROLF: totally unprepared are you TO face a world of men. Not “Tuh face”.
LIESL: When you sing I’ll depend on you, be sure not to have an “H” between the two
notes of “I’ll” and “pend”. Make sure you elide the two notes with no excess breath
between.
#15a - GRETL’s CROSSOVER - we need to work the timing with the music. Gretl you
need to stand there looking around a bit longer until you hear the 2nd thunderclap
before you run off. It all times with the music. We’ll work it.
#16 - MAX, ELSA, - review the end for # of beats to hold. Be sure to cut off on time and
together (-vive = 6 beats, cut off on 7th)
#?? - CAPTAIN: help me find this place - the children are singing something and you
cut them off with “No, No” today you came in way too soon.

NOTES ON THE WHITE CAST RT
ELSA: I’m pretty sure that Elsa has never said, “OK”.
#30 - KURT - Let the Captain sing through Ray, a drop of golden sun....then say your
line “Fraulein Maria always started with” over Captain singing, “Me, a name...” you cut
him off way too soon.
#32 - CHILDREN - be careful when you are singing and dancing at “When the dog
bites” that you listen to the beat of the music. Don’t get ahead of the beat! Today you did
get ahead.
#43 - The Concert: So Long, Farewell - YOU ALL SING the first line of each little verse -
So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehn, good night (or adieu, or goodbye)
#44 - MAX! Another name for you to pronounce: Second award to Fraulein Schweiser
(SHV-EYE-zer)
GENERAL NOTE FOR ALL: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU’RE SAYING YOUR LINES
CORRECTLY. Paraphrasing is discouraged. Other actors need to hear your exact lines
to know their cues. The Conductor needs to hear your exact line in order to start the
music on the correct cue. Please review and clean up those lines!
