Schedule for Friday 4/1!

4:00 - All Called EXCEPT non-named nuns - we will run  through the FINALE first so that all non-singing cast members can be excused  after we learn this. We will then begin a sing/work through of the show with an eye to frontloading  the numbers the children are in I'm hoping to be able to release the children early but it depends on how we work it;  could be around 6 5:15 - All nuns added to continue the music RT, ending with nuns only to work the music and logistics of staging. 7:00 - ALL RELEASED

Notes from 3/31's Run Through!

NOTES ON THE WHITE CAST RT NUNS: valiant effort for being so few in number! ALL NUNS: beware ‘scooping’ on entrances!!! Be sure to hear the starting note in your head FIRST so you start singing exactly on it. Maria: My day in the hills has come to AN end (not ‘come to n-end’) #5 - this is transition music - cue: Mother A I’m grateful to you all - There are 8 bars of music. Take enough time so that MA says “Come here my child” over bar 5-6. Then let the last 2 bars play out before continuing. MOTHER ABBESS: Maria Theresa - the second “e” in Theresa is pronounced as long A - as in ‘hay’..... MARIA: Your name is Maria Rainer, pronounced “RYE-ner” as in rye bread #7 - for Jim to decide. Typically, if subbing in the Alt #7, the other #7 is omitted. Seems like you have been doing both. Let’s talk about this to see if we want to keep both or omit the traditional #7 (2nd half of Fav. Things) or end #6 with Mother A and Maria and go directly to Alt #7 Maria: DoReMi @ m. 132 - there is a re...

Notes from 3/30's Run Through!

RED CAST RUN THROUGH NOTES FOR ALL: Saengerbund - ZAYN-ger-boont - cultural society of community choral group In German - A = Ah; I = ee; E = eh; O = as in ‘olive’; U = oo V= f; W = v; S = z when at the beginning of a word; Z = ts; D = t HERR - the “H” is pronounced as in ‘hair’. ALL: If you play a character that is Catholic, or a Nun (present or former) please be sure that if called upon in a scene to make the sign of the cross that you commit to it fully and do it correctly. Don’t rush through it. You can do it fast, but you must hit all the points. NUNS: We need to work out how you will start, stop and stay together when singing. Review tempo in Alleluia and the Amen. #4 - review the end harmony. #6 into #7 - are we doing both #7 and Alt #7? Generally, Alt #7 replaces #7 but if that’s what Herr director wants, we can keep it that way. Maria #9 - review rhythm at m. 89 Maria #14 - Goatherd need review of actual notes - don’t add embellishments that aren’t there! #15a - review fo...

Thursday Rehearsal Schedule!

Hi folks! Just to clarify the times you are called today, White Cast will be doing a full run-through from 4:00-7:30. Jim and Sydney will be out of town for the State Thespian Conference so Chrisse and Jeremy will be running things! Apologies for the delay, we'll have the vocal rehearsal schedule for tomorrow up ASAP! Thanks!

Hey everyone! Here is our poster designed by Madeline David! Feel free to use it to start spreading the word about our production!

Dietary Restrictions Form!

Hey folks! Please fill out THIS FORM  so we know any dietary restrictions you have. We ask that all members of cast and crew fill out this form so we can make sure we are able to provide you with food that meets your restrictions! Thank you!

Notes for Vocals!

Image
NOTES ON GENERAL VOCAL HEALTH: FOR ALL: remember that rest, hydration, posture and breath support are key to taking care of your voices during this show.   Posture: be sure you are not raising your chin when you sing.  That puts a strain on your vocal cords and is not healthy.  Letting the breath ‘go up into the head’, ‘feeling the vibration in the nose and cheekbones’ (those phrases are a combination of sensation and mental images) will take the focus off the throat and use the breath to best advantage - getting the most with the least amount of resource Breath Support: this is the key to singing.  Be sure that when you inhale, you can feel your torso expanding all the way around - ribs spreading sides and back - like a fireplace bellows!; with a relaxed belly that expands, concentrate on ‘powering’ the sound with the muscles in the back and torso that control that breath, rather than trying to push the sound with your neck.  The neck and shoulder should...

Finale!

Here is the LINK to the sheet music for the finale!

Rehearsals this week

Welcome back! I hope everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their breaks. I will not be in town Thursday and Friday due to the Oregon State Thespian Conference in Salem, so those days will have some vocals and a run through but right now I need to coordinate with Chrisse on the best use of our time. Monday:  Run Act 1 and problem spots.  Both casts.  4:00-7:00                    We will run through the act with each cast, focusing on problem spots.  If a scene is already                               pretty strong, we will likely skip it so that we can focus on our week points. Tuesday:  Run Acvt 2 and problem spots.  Both casts.  4:00-7:00                    Same as Monday, only we're doing Act 2. Wednesday:  Full run of the show.  Red...

Rehearsal Schedule Update

Rehearsal Schedule Update There will be further updates over the break, but for now I want to remind everyone what was decided at the cast meeting a couple of weeks ago as I was too busy to post it here: 4/8 Rehearsal 10:00-4:00 . This is the end of the quarter and a day off for students.  We will start rehearsal that day at 10:00 and do a “dry tech” where we run through all of the technical aspects of the play.  Sometimes we will run through whole scenes, sometimes we will skip from cue to cue.  Non-Lincoln students will not be called for this rehearsal. Breakfast/snacks and a light lunch will be provided.  4/9 Rehearsal 10:00-4:00.  This will be our first dress rehearsal.  We will run the whole show with one cast. Breakfast/snacks and a light lunch will be provided.  4/10 No rehearsal. 4/15 4 : 00-8:00. We will do a dress rehearsal.  If  you will need to leave early for Passover, please let me know in advance. It’s also my b...

Missing Pencil Case!

Hey folks! One of our cast members recently lost their pencil case and has asked the cast and crew to be on the lookout. If you happen to see a pastel blue/green pencil case with a zipper and a snap please let one of our stage managers know so they can return it to its rightful owner! Thanks!

Snacks!

Hi everyone! We want to be able to provide snacks for our young cast members so we ask that a few willing and able volunteers bring in some (non-perishable) snacks for the kiddos! We'll take care of storing the snacks and bringing them out for each rehearsal. We appreciate any help you can provide! Thanks!

Rehearsal Mask Policy!

Hi folks! A few people have reached out regarding the mask policy during rehearsals so we wanted to make it clear that even though PPS has lifted its mask mandate for schools, we still ask that masks be worn during rehearsals. If this will be an issue for you please feel free to reach out to me at ssallman1152@student.pps.net so we can find a solution! Thanks!
